When it comes to fire escapes, safety is critical.

Like many organisations, DHL identified that traditional steel fire escapes can become extremely slippery in wet conditions, increasing the risk of slips and falls when quick evacuation is required.

To help improve safety, this new fire escape at a DHL distribution centre in the Netherlands was fitted with Smyth Composites Anti-Slip Stair Treads and Flooring.

New Fire Rated Composite Panel

Surely one of the best fire rated composite panels to be offered to the UK market…

Smyth Composites have recently been developing a new highly fire rated composite panel comprising of a FABROCK core and PHENOLIC GRP skins. The panels will have a slightly textured RESOTEX finish which will be available in many colours. The panels will be available in various thicknesses from 20 – 80mm, to a maximum size of 1200 x 3000mm. More information will be forthcoming early in the New Year. Following requests from various customers Smyth Composites have developed what is called a "Z" Tread - a standard stair tread with the addition of an integrated back riser (which can be gritted or smooth). The "Z" treads in the image below were for the stairway to waterslides at a large waterpark so a "barefoot" grade of grit has been applied.
