Whitehall Historic House is a Grade II* listed Tudor building in Cheam Village. Recognised as being a rare example of surviving domestic architecture, the house reopened in 2018 following a major NLHF refurbishement. Opening times: Thurs, Fri, Sat, 10am-5pm

Little Holland House is the former home of Frank R. Dickinson, artist, designer and craftsman, who designed and built his home in the English Arts and Crafts style between 1902-4. As it’s Volunteers' Week, we'd like to take a moment to say a huge thank you to our fantastic team of volunteers who make it possible for us to keep the museum going!
From welcoming visitors at our front desk, sharing knowledge about the house and its history, managing the lovely garden, arranging talks and children’s activities, and keeping the shop shelves tidy and appealing - these are just a few of the roles our dedicated volunteers fulfil.
We are so grateful to each and every one of you for offering your time to keep this special place alive for the people of Carshalton and beyond.
However, we always need more volunteers, and our goal is to have enough people to enable us to open for more days of the week.

On this day in Sutton history, Sutton Railway Station first opened on 10 May 1847, as part of the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway line between West Croydon and Epsom.

Its arrival helped shape the local area, including the pubs, hotels and businesses that grew around Sutton and Cheam stations.

On this day in local history, 6 May 1918, Private James Boyd was discharged from the army as medically unfit after serving during the First World War.

His portrait was taken by Sutton photographer David Knights-Whittome and is now part of the Past on Glass collection held by Sutton Archives. Later research revealed that “James Arnold Boyd” was actually James Rutherford Hood Boyd, who had enlisted underage at just 16.
