Urban Spaces Gardens Limited

Urban Spaces Gardens Limited Urban Spaces are here to help landscape and maintain gardens, both Domestic and commercial Hi I’m Matthew, Managing Director of Urban Spaces Gardens Ltd.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our page, we hope it provides some inspiration and also gives an insight into what we have to offer. Gardening is not simply my profession it’s my passion. From a young age I loved helping my grandfather in his garden. I always felt a sense of belonging being outside with my hands in the dirt. At 16 I joined Hadlow College to study Horticulture and a few year

s later Urban Spaces was born. Now with qualifications and over a decade of experience I’m as enthusiastic as ever about all things garden related and remain captivated by plants, essential for our existence and yet so decorative. Kent’s title as the Garden of England has been challenged in recent years with a public survey concluding several other counties are now more fitting for the label. Whilst Kents’ orchards and allotments may be in decline the county is packed with stunning gardens and grounds and in my view worthy of its trademark, yet these areas of beauty don’t seem to be appreciated nearly enough. They deserve more attention so let’s do just that whether it be your back garden or a public park, let’s savour and celebrate!

Mow Lawns Correctly:

Trim your lawn regularly (once a week in peak summer). During dry spells, raise your mower's cutting height to leave the grass longer, preventing the lawn from browning. Ensure your mower blades are sharp for a clean cut.
It's as simple as that! 👍

Feed Your Soil;

Soil is the foundation of a great garden. Replenish nutrients by digging in organic compost or feeding with an organic fertilizer to keep plants healthy and robust.
Happy soil, happy plants 😊

Deadhead Spent Blooms:

Pinch or cut off faded flowers on your perennial and annual plants.
This redirects the plant's energy away from seed production and toward growing fresh, vibrant new blooms, extending the flowering and the season.

Stay on Top of Weeding:

Regular, light w**ding is much more effective than a massive monthly cleanup.
Pull w**ds up before they flower and set seeds which will spread very quickly if not dealt with.

For enhanced plant border health, apply a generous layer of mulch: Spread a 5–8 cm layer of organic matter like compost, bark, or leaf mold around your plants.

Mulch locks in soil moisture, insulates roots, and naturally suppresses w**ds, helping you to have lower maintenance plant borders. 👍

Garden Maintenance Tips:
1 of 10.

Water at the Right Time & Depth.

Water early in the morning or late at night to minimize evaporation.
Always aim water directly at the soil rather than the leaves to prevent disease.
It is better to give plants a deep soak to encourage strong, drought-resistant roots and water less frequently than water every day with just a small amount of water. 💦

Salt is your best pest killer!

Some gardeners might already know that salt is a great way to eliminate slugs, but it can also be used for other pests.
Just sprinkle some around your prized plants, flowers and vegetables and wave goodbye to those little nibble holes.
The great thing about salt is that it's on hand pretty much whenever you need it, it's cheap, plus it won't do any harm to your garden or any pets in your home, just the pests.
You can also mix up a pretty handy w**d killer by mixing a cup of salt with two cups of water and spraying it on.
Top tip of the day.
