⚠️ Thinking of Replacing Just Your Conservatory Roof Panels? Read This First! ⚠️
We are often asked to replace only the polycarbonate sheets in older conservatory roofs. While this may sound like a cost-effective solution, it is not always the best option.
The external PVC capping bars that secure the roof sheets are exposed to years of sunlight, weather, expansion, contraction, and general ageing. Over time, these components can become brittle, warped, or weakened.
When new polycarbonate sheets are installed, the capping bars should ideally be replaced at the same time to ensure:
✅ Proper weatherproofing
✅ Correct fixing and support of the new sheets
✅ Manufacturer warranty compliance
✅ Long-term performance and durability
Unfortunately, many older conservatory roof systems were manufactured by companies that are no longer trading, meaning replacement capping bars are often unavailable. Reusing old cappings can lead to leaks, poor fitment, movement in high winds, and potential damage to the new roof sheets.
At LF Replacement Windows, we always aim to provide the most reliable and long-lasting solution rather than a temporary fix. In many cases, where replacement cappings are unavailable, a complete roof replacement may be the safest and most cost-effective option in the long term.
If your conservatory roof is showing signs of age, leaks, or damaged panels, we're happy to offer honest advice and discuss the options available.
