Five years as a member of APDO, helping people to clear the clutter in their homes and living a more organised life.

Wow! I can’t believe I have been a member of APDO for 5 years already, my first memory is of a mentoring call I had an APDO member, I remember her saying to me that she felt that clutter was the bi product of what we do. She was so right, the guidance, support, motivation, and advice that I have given my clients over these years is what has really been the main role. I love creating space for my clients and helping them to clear the mental blockages. I love what I do, from helping older clients to declutter and organise a lifetime worth of possessions to young families keeping on top of the never-ending cycle of decluttering. Thank you for getting me started in the right direction and guiding us all.

Wow! I can’t believe I have been a member of APDO for 5 years already, my first memory is of a mentoring call I had an APDO member, I remember her saying to me that she felt that clutter was the bi product of what we do. The question I often get asked by my Clients is... "Does your home look like a show home?" My answer is NO.
It is our family home where my children play with toys and crafts, my husband cooks (sometimes), our dog runs in with muddy feet and where we live!
But, when I want to reset it and put everything away, everything has a home.
And that is the beauty of having an organised, decluttered home. It becomes easy to maintain, reset and ultimately enjoy.

Happy New Year!
Today wasn't the start to 2022 I was expecting, rather than helping my wonderful clients to declutter their homes, I am isolating and giving my own kitchen a good purge and re-organise.
I rarely have free time, so today I focused on the kitchen because I knew I could start and finish it!

I feel really good for completing this task, I have purged any out of date food, donated any items I don't use anymore, cleaned the cupboards and organised. What room shall I tackle tomorrow?

The 'Business' cupboard!
I love a good Before and After photo and this is a fabulous one!
My client is a childminder and needed her hallway cupboard to convert into the storage area for her business. She now has nearly all her daily requirements in one space, making the business run efficiently.
Everything is clearly labelled so maintaining a simple, effective system is easy!

Post and paper coming into our homes is one of the biggest things people find hard to keep on top of. It is continuous and if you don't have a method to deal with it, it can, very quickly get out of hand.

If you have time, see sorting the post as a daily job. Have an 'action' tray for anything that needs your attention, recycle any junk mail and have a filing tray for documents that need to be filed at a later time.

Don't let it build up as then it becomes a task you dread instead of a 5 minute job.
