Jimmy McAlpine 1933-2021

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jimmy McAlpine, known as JE to most in the industry.

Jimmy joined the company in the late 1950’s. As a young man, he had served time on merchant ships. When he left the merchant navy he agreed to join McAlpine Plumbing Products on the condition that the company would purchase a £10,000 machine that would enable him to design and produce a plastic Bottle trap.

Over the decades he embraced the development of plastic extrusion technology and was seen as an industry pioneer, with a unique insight into product development. He was responsible for developing many technical innovations, and over the decades more than 65 McAlpine products have gone on to be patented.

He will be sadly missed by all the McAlpine family.
