Meet Stewart Kearney, Project Architect at BCAE Architects.

Stewart combines strong design thinking with technical expertise, helping clients navigate projects from the first sketch through to completion. His experience spans residential, commercial, healthcare and education sectors, working closely with clients, consultants and contractors to deliver carefully considered architecture.

Before joining BCAE, Stewart contributed to a number of award-winning projects, including heritage restorations, major academic buildings and large-scale city-centre developments, giving him a wealth of experience across both design and technical delivery.

Today, he specialises in bespoke residential architecture, leading high-value homes, listed building projects and complex residential schemes through every stage of the process.

Outside the studio, Stewart enjoys travelling, cooking and exploring new places, often drawing inspiration from different cultures, architecture and food.

Thoughtful, collaborative and detail-focused, Stewart is passionate about creating homes and spaces that are practical, refined and built to last.

Approval on a complex Green Belt site in just 7 weeks.

Back in April, we shared that we’d submitted planning applications for 7 self-build homes across the North West.

On Friday, we secured planning permission at the first attempt for 3 bespoke homes ranging from 7,500–9,500 sq ft on a complex Green Belt site.

Not only was the application approved, but it was determined in just 7 weeks, ahead of the standard 8-week target.

Even better, all pre-commencement requirements were agreed as part of the process, allowing work to begin on site this week.

This is a great example of what can be achieved through a clear planning strategy, collaborative working with the local authority, and a design-led approach from day one.

Complex Green Belt sites can be challenging, but with the right strategy they can unlock exceptional opportunities.

We can’t wait to see this one begin on site this week and watch these homes take shape.
