A thoughtful planting can completely change the feel of a garden.

This Japanese acer was planted to replace a topiary that had reached the end of its life. Positioned within the gravel border, it now provides height, structure and seasonal interest while complementing the Japanese-inspired design of the front garden.

A few weeks later, the fresh foliage has emerged and the transformation is already taking shape.
