Fingers crossed for the weather - I’ve spent the last couple of weeks cutting, watering and rolling…a very busy week ahead, but should be great fun! 🏏🍻☀️

Monday morning’s office! 😎
An early start today to avoid the real heat later! It’s warm enough already 🥵
The prep starts in earnest for next week’s cricket week at West Bergholt CC. It’s going to be a cracking week, lots going on on and off the pitch.
And I am making a playing a comeback myself 👀
A bit of hedge trimming, patio jet washed and now to get these wickets done!

All set for tonight’s last T20 game of the season and incredibly out first home one 🙄 due to a combination of early wet weather and some concessions!
Pitches for weekend coming along nicely and Andy was cutting the outfield today too!

Exciting news today:
West Bergholt CC’s Chairman messaged me this morning to tell me that the District have contacted him asking if we can host some T20 games on Tuesday 30th July.
Apparently they have heard that the pitches are playing extremely well and of very good quality! 👌🏻
I’m very proud of this, considering I am still very new to the job! Pressure is on now though 👀
Please weather behave yourself for a couple of weeks 🙏🏻

Managed to get it looking like a cricket ground again last night!
Hours spent cutting and rolling!
Until it rains again all day tomorrow and the matches this weekend are postponed!! 😩

After a lot of blood, sweet and tears and RAIN! A ridiculous amount of rain, we finally have cricket being played at West Bergholt CC!
My first every pitch prep, thanks to James’ guidance and assistance. I am pretty proud and pleased with that! 😊

Managed to get the square cut last night at West Bergholt Cricket Club, before the downpours today!
And the forecasts were correct!
No cricket this weekend again, but staying positive for next weekend…just need a week of dry weather 🙏🏻 🏏

Really excited to have got a contract to help prepare the ground and pitches at West Bergholt Cricket Club this season 🏏
First few hours of rolling under my belt this morning - definitely worse places to spend a Sunday morning!
Still very wet but hopefully some drier weather and we can get some cricket played in the next couple of weeks! 🙏🏻🤞🏻

Last week’s large job…
My client had a vision - they wanted to plant a beautiful mixed hedge in an overgrown, weedy border, to attract birds and other wildlife 😊
I dug over the area, removing weeds and replanting bulbs in the back garden, added a load of soil improver and then planted two double rows of hedging - including hawthorn, hazel, holly, maple, dog rose, buckthorn and yew.
Finished off with bark and a cute wooden edging (unfortunately some of the edging was damaged during delivery).
As the clients lives close by, it will be great to see the hedge establish over the coming months/years.
A really enjoyable job for lovely, friendly clients 😊

After a very cold snap, the weather is forecast to get milder over the next few weeks..
Therefore, it’s time to start to get ready and plan for Spring - say it quietly 🤫

Happy New Year!
After what seems like weeks of rain, the forecast looks better - cold and dry at least!
It’s now time to start looking in the garden for the jobs that can be done over the next few weeks and months - patio/path jet washing, hedge trimming, bed clearance, cutting back, planting to name a few.

And that’s a wrap!
The last gardening bag filled by me this year! I hate to think of how many I have filled in 2023, along with a few skips!
It’s been a fantastic first year for Red Robin Garden Design - it’s bloody hard work at times, but ultimately very rewarding and I love it!
I have worked for 44 different clients this year and I’ve met some amazing people along the way, some of whom I now consider as friends!
Thank you to everyone on here who has liked/shared/commented on one of my posts - it means a lot and it always very much appreciated. ☺️
