This week, I helped a gentleman to regain control of his allotment after he was unfortunately admitted to hospital. This job consisted of de-weeding the veg beds, strimming and mowing. There’s such a lovely community atmosphere at allotments, I love working there. Although this gentleman didn’t work with me on this occasion, I am very happy to work alongside customers to support them in doing the jobs that they might not be able to do. Lovely day for turfing. I find that preparation is key. Once the area which is going is to be turfed is prepared, debrie and big stones removed, and fairly level, I add a layer of good topsoil from Paynes Turf. I then rake the area level again, walk over a few times to remove air pockets and then rake again. This process makes turf laying (also from Paynes turf) so much easier.
