What some describe as the "pinnacle of classical architecture", the Corinthian Order first emerged in ancient Greece and is defined by its elaborate capital with sculpted acanthus leaves, that bring movement and life to the order.

Favored in the great monuments of the classical world, from temples to palaces, it has become a symbol of architectural ambition at its highest level.

have used the Corinthian Order of a number of grand projects, including Ferne Park and Hanover Lodge, London.

We’re proud to see one of our country houses featured in Country Life, over 20 years after it was originally completed.

Ferne Park was a new seven-bay house with a giant Composite Order on the entrance front with later extensions added to either side. Built using Portland and locally quarried Chilmark stone.

Thought to have been first introduced in ancient Greece, the Doric order is the earliest and most robust of the classical orders, dating back to 7th century BCE where it matured from wooden structures to stone temples, such as the Temple of Apollo, on which the Doric order can still be observed today.

The Doric Order represents architecture in its purest from - where proportion and structure take precedence over ornament.

From porches to pediments, we have used the Doric Order on numerous projects to add strong authority to the architecture.
