Another couple of busy weeks for the team, a job in Berwick to dig out a sloping garden and make a nice flat patio for the customer to enjoy and a new fence to finish it off, then on to Kelso to do a complete renovation, out with the old and in with the new, gravel and walls everywhere taken out and a new lawn instead with a little patio for a table and chairs, then over to Chirnside to finish off another Resin drive

New Path Day for a Kelso Customer 👌

A great transformation completed for a customer in Kelso. We started this job on Thursday last week so a quick turn around for the team and onto the next one 💪🏼

The existing brick path had been laid directly onto soil which had caused it to sink and become uneven over time. We lifted and removed the old brick pathway before preparing the area properly.

✔️ Excavated and removed the old base
✔️ Installed a new Type 1 sub-base for a solid foundation
✔️ Laid Indian Raj Green sandstone slabs
✔️ Finished with a clean grey jointing compound for a sharp, long-lasting finish

The result is a much more durable, level and attractive pathway that will stand the test of time.

The team were back out today carrying out our first grass cuts of the season — and it felt brilliant to be back on the sit-on mower again 🙌

There’s nothing quite like the smell of freshly cut grass and seeing lawns brought back to life after the winter months. The lighter nights and better weather are definitely on the way!

First landscaping project of 2026 completed by the team.

This was certainly a challenging way to kick off the year for Team RJL. Due to restricted access, the entire area had to be excavated by hand, with all waste carefully transported through the property and into a skip using buckets.

Once the groundwork was complete, we constructed a sleeper retaining wall and incorporated centrally positioned steps to provide safer, easier access to the rear of the garden. We also built two raised planters, ready for the client to plant out in spring. During the dig-out, we addressed and corrected two drainage issues before installing the hardcore sub-base.

The project was finished with the installation of grey sandstone paving, complemented by a light grey jointing compound for a clean, modern finish.

A very enjoyable first landscaping job of the year. The clients headed off to the Lake District and trusted us to get on with the work—we’re looking forward to seeing their reaction when they return.
