Full barn renovation over in Conwy. For this job we provided a Viessmann Vitocal 150a heat pump and a full underfloor heating system throughout the property and installed 2 bathrooms. This was partly funded by a £7500 BUS grant which is available to everyone thinking of switching to a heat pump. If you are currently on oil or LPG the grant has just been uplifted to £9000. Which is nice 👌

We do also sometimes install gas boilers. Today we replace an 18 year old Vaillant Ecotec boiler with a new ecotec boiler…that is almost exactly the same as the old one…….I guess you can’t improve on perfection 👌🐰

A little job we have just completed over in Llangefni where we replaced a very old oil boiler with a Midea r290 heat pump and also replaced the entire heating system and radiators for good measure. Top job by Hughie, Isaac and Bowen Electrical & Home Automation to bring this one in bang on time.

With the price of heating oil at an all time high you might be interested in learning about the potential savings of installing a heat pump.

We will base this calculation on an electricity unit price of 25p per kWh and an oil price of £1.30 a litre.

So with an estimated annual heating demand of 22,100 kWh and a SCOP target of 3.8…

The heat pump would use roughly:

22,100 ÷ 3.8 = 5,816 kWh of electricity per year

At today’s electric rate of roughly 25p per kWh, that gives:

5,816 × £0.25 = £1,454 per year

Now compare that to oil

The same amount of heat from oil works out at roughly 2,500 litres per year.

At £1.30 per litre:

2,500 × £1.30 = £3,250 per year

In simple terms a saving of around £1800 a year.

So the heat pump is predicted to cost less than half the price of oil to run.

This is why good design matters.

A well designed system doesn’t just work it gives you warmer, steadier comfort for dramatically less money.

The gas company wanted £5,000 to put a gas supply into this property in Holyhead. So our customer took advantage of the £7500 BUS grant and 0% VAT to get heat into this property. We installed a super simple and efficient 6kw Midea r32 air source heat pump, hot water tank and full new heating system. Good effort from Isaac, Hughie and Bowen Electrical & Home Automation to get this one boxed off.

Dodging the rain showers over in Deiniolen where we were servicing 16kW Riello heat pump.

Do heat pumps even need servicing?

Yes they do. It’s a flow-dependent, low temperature system that needs to stay balanced to run efficiently.

During an annual service we check:

Flow & return temperatures
System pressure & expansion vessel charge
Flow rates
System water quality
Magnetic filter & strainer cleanliness
Pumps & circulation
Outdoor unit condition & electrical connections
DHW cylinder safety devices
Controller settings (weather comp, hot water schedules, backup heater)

We only access the refrigeration circuit if there’s a fault or clear reason to do so.

Most efficiency losses and faults come from poor flow, dirty systems or incorrect controller settings — not refrigerant issues.

An annual service keeps your system efficient, safe and within warranty.

If yours hasn’t been serviced in 12 months, get it booked in.

We are looking for an experienced heating engineer to join our team working across North Wales.

You’ll be working on a mix of domestic and light commercial projects including gas heating system installation and maintenance, renewable heating systems, and air conditioning systems.

We’ll provide full training on renewables and air con if you haven’t worked with them before

Our projects are planned in advance and properly prepared so you’ll have what you need to do the job right.

What we need from you:

✅ESSENTIAL: You’ll need current ACS qualifications including CCN1 and CENWAT1, solid experience with wet heating systems, and a full UK driving licence.

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work and communicates well.

✅NICE TO HAVE: qualifications include Fgas Cat 1, Unvented DHW, heat pump experience, and knowledge of hydronic design.
