MOR Architects are delighted to be working on the fitout and interior design of the Cathedral Buildings at Donegall St Belfast. The building is undergoing an extensive restoration led by contractors Hugh J. O'Boyle Ltd following the devastating fire in late 2022 which gutted the Grade B1 Listed building.

Originally built in 1902 for tea merchant F.R. Lepper, it is fantastic to see this much loved building being meticulously restored its original glory. The works to Cathedral Buildings will see not only the exteriors repaired but also the interiors reinstated carefully preserving much of the character, with the original internal brick walls exposed, along with many other period features celebrating what will make this building special and a unique place to work within the city.

Too often we see the heritage of Belfast City lost, the Cathedral Buildings are a jewel in the Cathedral Quarter and with this restoration, they will once more will become a hub in the neighborhood supporting local independent retailers, startup entrepreneurs and small family run businesses.

Keep posted for future updates and check out for progress shots!

Great to see the Petersen brickwork construction progressing well on our elevated residential build outside Dungannon. Once complete, the slender pale Petersen brick piers will elegantly frame the full-height glazing, capturing stunning hillside views to the rear. A combination of slate and natural zinc roofing will complete the design, adding depth and contrast to the material palette.

Stay tuned for more updates as this build takes shape!

We are delighted to share the recently completed office design and fit out for .uk at The Ewart Belfast.
This project focuses on creating a contemporary & agile workspace that fosters collaboration, staff wellbeing & productivity. Incorporating various working spaces from intimate, focused zones, traditional open plan workstations & large ‘townhall style’ meeting spaces allowing employees to choose their best suited working environment.
The concept provides adaptability for expansion & provision for future methods of working. There is a strong emphasis on biophilia, providing a healthy environment that connects building occupants to nature through maximising views to the external & integration of planting. The spatial design & material quality through specialist joinery items will create a beautiful & welcoming working environment.

In creating and shaping our office workplace designs, every element is thoughtfully considered. From the acoustic wall paneling, introduction of glazed screen to draw natural light deep into the plan, right through to the inclusion planters and vines on the floating rafts enhancing the biophilic qualities of the space.
These finer details collectively foster a conducive atmosphere for collaboration, creativity, and well-being, ultimately reflecting the practice’s commitment to excellence in design.

We are pleased to share the recently completed two storey extension of this existing farmhouse. This family dwelling is arranged in 4no linear blocks, which reflects the form of a nearby cluster agricultural buildings. A key design consideration was to maximise views and connections out to the surrounding mature gardens.
The main living space is central to the plan, this space bleeds out to an elevated south facing courtyard. The bedrooms are located to the east taking advantage of the morning sun light. A self-contained annex, garage and home office are located to the northwest of the block flexibly designed to become easily linked to the central accommodation.’
