Good luck to Trish on her retirement having founded Newquay’s famous Smile Surf Shop. Trish is one of the members of the original Newquay surf pack and you can hear her memories of surfing in the 60s in the video on this page. She has been a great supporter of the statue and we would like to thank her for all her involvement 🏄 😊

Trish Scarlett has retired from Smile Surf Shop on Fore Street.

The shop will stay local, with the owner of Surfing Life on Fore Street taking on the business.

Tributes are being paid to one of Newquay's surfing pioneers who has died aged 76. Stuart Keogh created The Keogh Foundation, the driving force behind the surf statue that will soon be erected on The Killacourt as a gift to the town to celebrate Newquay's surfing heritage.

We say goodbye to Stuart tomorrow at his funeral, but he leaves his legacy in Newquay. Stuart, may the waves rise up to meet you.
