This boiler was in a terrible state and considering it had been looked after by a well known company it's a shame to see how much had been missed or just simply ignored.

For starters the turret seal perished and the exhaust was returning back into the boiler giving me an oxygen reading on 19.7 and as the exhaust has been through combustion it's very acidic which has started to rot the boiler from inside out, also as the is not enough oxygen the combustion will be incomplete combustion, which gives you carbon monoxide (the silent killer).

The nut sheared off as I was removing the electrodes, so had to drill out the bolt from the heat exchanger (nightmare) but was successful, I also had to replace the turret, turret seals and flue seals as these had all perished and carried out a full strip down service and finally checked boiler using my flue gas analyser to confirm correct operation.

While working on this boiler I got bitten by the house dog, I didn't mind too much as it was so darn cute!

Potterton supreme 40L I've been looking after this boiler for two years now, on my first visit I found that the flow and return were plumbed the wrong way around and that the flue in the loft was not clipped at all and had become dislodged (extremely dangerous), so i sorted out the flow and return, reassemble the flue and supported it using universal flue clamps.
I then carried out a full strip down service to MI's this is an old boiler but in very good condition, it definitely has been looked after throughout its life, but the client told me that no one had ever check the flue in loft space, so God only knows how long it had been dislodged and thankfully no one was injured from this oversight!!!

Carrying out a full strip down service on ATAG IS32 system boiler, also replacing a faulty expansion vessel and pressure relief valve.
Finally checking safety features, flue integrity and combustion ratios with flue gas analyser.

Hi all,

Here are the final pictures of the Rayburn and fully lagged thermal store, I could have done better with cable as you can see my skills are more with pipes than cables.

The customer sent these to me today as they were cooking a roast and the high limit stat kicked in and started dumping heat into the heating system and the flow and return gauges were both showing 80°c which means thermal dynamics have reached the maximum thermal lift, very efficient system.

Hi all,

My most recent Rayburn stove & ATAG boiler installation, which heats a 200l Telford combi thermal store cylinder in the loft.

Had to reinforce and level the floor where the cylinder is situated, gravity feed 'aka' thermal dynamics from Rayburn to thermal store with flow and return temperature gauges and a ATAG heat only boiler, pumped to thermal store, centre heating is pumped directly from thermal store separately, once store has reached a set temperature the heating controls activate and a room stat takes over, I have also fitted a high limit stat set to 85°c which will override heating controls and pump round system as a safety feature.

These pictures were taken during installation I have lagged all the pipe work in the loft and fitted a magnetic filter to the boiler return pipe, I will ask the customer to send me pictures of my finished work and Rayburn and will post.
