Between the beginning and end of the March The Royal Horticultural Society recommend that; Apple and Pear trees to be pruned to ensure a good cycle of fruiting wood, as trees that are not pruned become less productive and congested with old branches. Also to maintain pruning on pollarded trees such, as Willow and Lime, cutting back all growth to within two or three buds of the crown.
