Good progress today, I took off the damp-proofing material, turned the soil over and levelled it a bit better, however due to moles burrowing under the plot I covered it back over and constructed some raised beds, I plan on putting woodchip in between the beds as paths. It’s coming along nicely I think, now time to have Sunday lunch and dream of what to grow….

Last autumn I finally got an allotment, haven’t been able to do much as it’s been a real horrible winter, in fact I covered the majority of it with black damp-proofing material from which did an awesome job in killing all the weeds and grass off. Today I pulled back the damp-proofing material and was able to cultivate it using the rotivator 32329 which is an awesome bit of kit and made really light work of the ground underneath! I think of you look at the before and after photos you can really see a difference and I’m super happy with the result.

As it happens, I’ve re-covered it with the damp-proofing material and once ready will cover it with wood chip to start to building and fitting my raised beds, put up the polytunnel and start putting things in order. Exciting times ahead!!!

I’m mega excited about my first season on the allotment, I know there is a lot of work to be done but spring is around the corner and I’m already thinking of what I would like to grow, I am planning this using as it’s really easy to use and a really handy tool.

So today we started prepping the allotment, it was a bit of a state at the start of the day, but we persevered and cut it all back, collected the rubbish and put to one side, then covered it all with black tarp!! I know it doesn’t look a lot but there was a lot of hard work done today!!! Have a look at the before and after photos and let us know what you think!!!

Our bedding packs are coming along nicely 🥰

We made a slight change and have swapped the bizzie Lizzies for nasturtiums, although we love the bizzie lizzies none survived through the recent frosts and we really love the nasturtium so was an easy replacement. The Gazania and begonias are coming along nicely as well as the silver dust...
