This 80ft ash tree stood in a mid-terrace house in Hornchurch, with no side access. A large limb had snapped off and fallen onto a neighbour’s shed roof. During my initial inspection, I examined the stem and found signs of internal decay at the base, so I recommended pollarding the tree to prevent future limb failures.

We explored every option for waste removal, and the best solution was via the rear garden gate. This required building a temporary bridge and speed-lining the sections across a river into the park. The speed line was rigged to a smart winch, allowing easy tensioning and release—all controlled from ground level at the tree’s base. This kept the climber safe by immediately removing cut pieces from their position and enabled us to use our compact telehandler to lift larger logs, reducing physical strain on the team.

We’ve now built bridges at multiple sites where other companies claimed it wasn’t possible—we make it happen. The full pollard took just two days, leaving a very happy customer and a real sense of achievement for the team. 🌳💪
