One from the archives.

Phase 3 of the transformation of LHW house in South-West Scotland.

This phase was completed in 2018 and saw the downstairs offices (which had moved to larger premises) transformed into a playroom and sunroom/guest space. Previously the offices were accessed by a separate external door. This door was now replaced with a fixed glass pane and the playroom accessed internally by a new timber staircase.

Site visit to Tiree to see progress on the house build. Great fun flying there and back.

With the weather getting colder, the robust materials chosen for the exterior of the house should hopefully protect the house against the harsh and ever changing weather on the island!

The plywood lining throughout the interior of the house is also now taking shape.

One from the archives.

End of terrace house in South-west London that was completely refurbished and extended at ground floor to provide more living and kitchen space. The loft was also converted into an extra bedroom with an en-suite shower room.

This project brought with it the challenges of buildovers, railway lines, party walls and rights of way!

It was completed in early 2013.

Phase 2 of the transformation of LHW house in South-West Scotland.

This phase was completed in 2008 and saw this house completely reclad in cedar, a new kitchen put in, the garden balcony extended, high performance windows put in throughout and the main living spaces to the house refurbished (new flooring and lighting).

The pictures show how the house looked before and after, and how untreated cedar changes to a beautiful silver colour over time.

Latest picture of our Isle of Tiree new build house project

One from the project archives. Reconfiguration and small extension of the basement/garden level of a house in Castle Douglas. The clients wanted this floor of the house to be where the heart of the family lived. The kitchen was swapped around and linked in with the dining area which was extended to link in with the garden. The old kitchen was turned into a separate play room and utility space. The old utility room was turned into a cloakroom. Project completed in 2016.

One from the archives. Our first built project and phase 1 of the many changes this house in South West Scotland (just outside of Dumfries) has undergone over the years. This first phase saw the garages underneath the living spaces of the house transformed into offices. Maximising space and gaining light were key to the success of this project. This phase of the LHW house renovation works was completed in 2003.

The cladding has started on the Isle of Tiree house. We are using Russwood’s Scotlarch cladding which has a SiOO:X coating. This coating will make the cladding weather more quickly to a silver colour while at the same time protect the cladding from the rather unpredictable and harsh Tiree weather! JML Contracts Ltd
