It’s the little things that count!

I always stick one of our business cards to the front of a boiler or appliance (if it is practical) after I have finished a job! This way, whenever or if ever that customer has a future issue - they don’t have to hunt around looking for a business card or battle the infinite google ‘sponsored listings’ - to find my number!

My son Lewis is training hard as him & a few of his friends are doing the ‘Three Peaks Callenge’ (3 x mountain climbs in 24hrs). They have set a goal to raise £1000.00 for St Teresa’s Hospice - an awesome local charity! So far they have raised £375.00 from very generous donations.

I would like to do anything that I can - to get them to reach their fundraising target (because I am not daft or capable enough to climb 3 mountains in 24hrs).

I know money is tight for everybody - but if just a fraction of my FB friends & FB page followers donated just £1.00 - they would smash that fundraising target in the blink of an eye!

Your boiler will have been working hard over the winter!
Now that the weather is nice and you are not needing central heating - treat your combi boiler to a service! This will keep it in good working order and ensure that everything is functioning safely & as it should. It is wise to occasionally run your central heating for a short time over summer - just to prevent any issues that may arise later in the year, after many months of NOT being used! Maybe every 6 weeks, when you pop out to do your shopping etc. Open your windows and stick your heating on for 45-60mins whilst you are out. It will not cost much £’s and WILL prevent components from seizing up because they have been sat idle for a large chunk of the year.

Get in touch and book a routine service or safety inspection. With safety inspections from only £50.00 & servicing from only £75.00 - it will be wise money well spent! Gas Safe registered & all work is supplied with inspection/safety/repair/servicing reports.

Water cylinder replacement - original had ruptured likely due to corrosion from the inside!

Not a quick or easy job! But the replacement will see the next 15+yrs and is more efficient than the original.

Did a gas fire service today and had to shut it off and issue a safety warning notice & apply a ‘do not use’ label! After undertaking the service I did a smoke pellet / flue flow test - and smoke from the test pellet was seeping back into the room from the top of the gas fire. This means that there is an issue or blockage within the flue/chimney that the fire is attached to, which takes the dangerous combustion products / carbon monoxide safely away! If this customer had not had it serviced by a professional - she likely would have used it over the winter months as it was working (at face value) perfectly fine! Unbeknown to the customer - it would have been leaking the invisible, deadly & odour free bi product ‘carbon monoxide’ into her room / house - and the consequences would have been very concerning / worrying (to say the very least)! The customer is now safe, she is getting the chimney inspected & cleaned - then I have offered to return ‘free of charge’ to re test and re commission the fire so it can be safely used over winter.

How many people just continue to use gas fires & gas appliances, that have not been serviced & inspected for a very long time, without giving any thought to their condition - assuming that because the fire etc operates correctly, it is fine?

The small amount of money to have appliances like this serviced & safety checked every year is money well spent. The consequences could be disasterous and potentially fatal! (Please do not think that scaring / worrying people posting things like this, is a way of getting paid work from people unnecessarily - Google search carbon monoxide poisoning from domestic appliances, and you will learn / see that it is an important issue).

As a ‘Gas Safe’ engineer - my primary concern on every job, is making sure that customers / appliances / myself - are SAFE!

You cannot see or smell Carbon Monoxide and if inhaled it can be fatal or make you seriously ill. Learn the symptoms and what to do if you suspect you are at risk.
