It’s coming home, it’s coming home!
No, nothing to do with the football, there’s a long way to go there yet.

Do you know we deliver?
Of course, we deliver the best quality, the best prices and friendly service with a smile but we can bring your purchases direct to your home!

Furniture, tall trees, lots of pots or big bulk buys - we’ll deliver, sometimes the very same day too and sometimes completely free!!

So when you do see it in store and wonder how it’s coming home, just hope next time Saka and Rashford start and ask one of our friendly staff.

Oh go on then, once more…

As it’s going to all kick off soon, whether you love it or hate it, we thought we’d put something together based on THE best football song there is.

Better than Footballs Coming Home and Vindaloo - and up there with Dario G’s Carnaval De Paris, we present, our gardening tips based on the iconic John Barnes rap sequence, in World in Motion. Take it away, John.

You’ve got to sow and plant
But do it at the right time
You can be slow or fast
But you must water on time
They’ll always grow well and flower
If you follow this knack
There’s only one way to treat them
Always prune from the back
Peat free if you can
Cos you’re a Whilton fan
And what you’re singing to
Is our master plan(t)
We ain’t no high priced place
This is our gardening song
Three Lions this World Cup
Surely it can’t go wrong?

We’ll be cheering from Whilton
(Whilton Locks)
We’ll be singing this song
We’ll be cheering from Whilton
(Whilton Locks)
C’mon England lets get it won!

If you want to bring it home (be it a World Cup, lots of plants or pots, composts, soils or new garden furniture set, to watch the footie), ask one of our team about our delivery options.

Who’s the Daddy?
Dad deserves a lot more credit than he usually gets. He’s the king of fixing things, the master of questionable dance moves and the champion of terrible jokes. Such as: Why did the Chicken cross the road? Because he was going to have a cluck around Whilton Locks Garden Village!

When life gets tough, Dad is often there with a helping hand and a reassuring smile. Whether he’s teaching life lessons or pretending he knows exactly where he’s going in the car with that very frustrating road closure by us, you can’t help but think, firstly “How many blooming Bringtons are there?” but more importantly “Who’s the daddy?” The answer is usually the guy carrying all compost while insisting he doesn’t need any help.

This week we have been thinking dad and we’ve picked out a few things that will catch dad’s eye. Gifts (and we’ve added few to this post) such as indoor and outdoor Bonsai, Cacti and carnivorous plants, planted terrariums, chocolate Cosmos and planted summer patio pots plus we’ve a great range of Father’s Day cards too.

Good dads have a special talent for making their families feel safe and supported. They work hard, listen when it matters and somehow always know when someone needs encouragement. Sure, their jokes may make everyone groan*, but deep down those dad jokes are a sign of love. A great father doesn’t just raise his children, he helps them grow into confident, kind people.

*Such as: Why did the other chicken cross the road? He heard Whilton Locks was so great he wanted a cluck too!

Oh Yes, Dad Will Love This
And to kick off (well the footy is on) a great day, why not start with a great breakfast? Our Canalside restaurant will be serving just that - and, because it will be such a busy day, it’s available all day too. He shoots, he scores.

Dad’s Day Done Right
Perhaps the best thing about the best dads is that they show up, day after day, through the big moments and the small ones. From cheering at the school events to offering advice that suddenly makes sense years later, they leave a lasting impact. They may not wear capes, or sensible shoes when they wield that big garden fork or new strimmer, but they’re heroes in their own way. So here’s to all the great fathers out there, proof that being a dad isn’t just a title, it’s a full-time role and when someone asks, “Who’s the daddy?” the answer is simple: the guy who’s always there when you need him most.

See you soon

Alright Dave?

David Austin have been growing roses on their family farm in Shropshire for over 60 years, lovingly nurturing them by hand until they are to be enjoyed in your own gardens. David Beckham is a keen gardener and used to play football.

Our Plant Manager? He shoots. He scores. He has some.
We have a very limited amount of David Austin ‘Sir David Beckham’ roses. Just 10, in fact, so don’t miss them.

Of course, at Whilton Locks Garden Village you don’t have to spend it like Beckham. Blooming lovely and blooming available now.

On the left is Big Daddy, a famous wrestler (in the UK, grapple fans on a Saturday afternoon) and on the right is Big Daddy - a hosta.

It’s daddy’s big day on Sunday, so don’t forget to think of something to do to spoil him. A big daddy breakfast in our Canalside restaurant sounds tempting for starters - and a big hug.

A ferret-able, sorry… veritable treat today as we welcomed Nobby and Scout to Whilton Locks Garden Village. They were both so well behaved and rather lovely.

There are an estimated 100,000 ferrets in the UK and the RSPCA say they have around 5 calls each week (that’s 300 a year) to help with ferrets that need rehoming.

Nobby and Scout are rescues and are now super happy in their new home, even going for a walk every single day! A happy story to hear.
