Rising damp starts from the ground up – literally. It's caused by moisture from the ground being drawn up through your walls due to a failed or missing damp proof course (DPC).

🔎 Common Signs of Rising Damp:

Tide marks or staining on lower walls (up to 1.2m high)

Peeling paint or crumbling plaster

Wet patches or salts forming on interior walls

Rotten skirting boards or flooring

A cold, musty smell that won’t go away

Visited a customer this week who had unfortunately fallen victim to cowboy builders. 😞 No perimeter gulleys installed, poorly sealed membrane joints, and membrane not taken to full height — all serious errors in a basement waterproofing system. She had paid a lot of money for substandard work.
