Memorial planting completed today for customer.
Magnolia brooklynensis Elizabeth multi stem added to the Prunus sargentii planted recently.
Magnolia is in full bud and will be in flower soon.
The prunus is budding up nicely.
Both protected from mower damage and mulched with purple slate.

Paving job completed this week after some trying early conditions. But now already for the customers sheds.

Grass will continue to grow all year but not normally as much this time of year !!
It's good to keep it trimmed when conditions allow and yesterday was perfect for a light trim.

Need your hedge trimming? Give me a call or message me.
Dont forget that once in march you may not be able to trim your hedges as birds will have started nesting and its against the law to disturb nesting birds.
It's also better for hedges, trees and many shrubs to be trimmed and pruned whilst they are dormant during the winter period.

So it would appear that todays theme is hedges, shrubs and now trees.
The next 3 months or so is the time to be planting most woody plants, particularly bare rooted plants.
Most good nurseries and plant centres should soon be stocking hedging plants and trees, bare rooted plants as the name implies are plants having been grown in the ground and dug up with a good root structure but with no soil. Usually much cheaper than container grown or containerised plants they are just as good. They are also more environmentally friendly not using peat or manufactured composts or plastic containers.

Of course there is a place for container grown plants, particularly when planting has to be carried out during the warmer parts of the year and bare rooted plants are not available.
