Removing a hanger from a Pine tree at Montalto today. As usual with the Montalto effect, this looked small from the car park but turned out to be enormous. New Montalto effect as well: this tree has six species of tree growing in its crown- spruce, misc?, elm, rhododendron, leylandii and rowan. Bonkers.

Big pollard for the National Trust at Nugents Wood in Portaferry. The owl was screwed in properly so had to dismantle it around that and glad to say that she’ll live to fly another day. Huge cavity through the base of the tree so had to be done.

This week we’ve mostly been dismantling this ridiculously large Marcracarpa tree and its two little cousins. Four days later and it’s down to a standing stem for us to fell once the customer has removed the massive pile of logs. Better him than us. Probably the biggest tree we’ve done thus far, certainly without the help of a crane.

Light prune of a Walnut tree for the National Trust at Mount Stewart. Thankfully this one didn’t suffer from the National Trust effect where the tree looks small to start with and then you realise it’s actually bloody massive.
