It’s a shame this latch post wasn’t installed with an extra 4 inches of concrete at the top.

The gravel and soil have eaten away at the exposed wood and damaged it prematurely.

New post installed.
I sloped the concrete to just above ground level to allow water to run away. This will go the distance now.
