Our 500 Hampers... Update
We are very, very close to having more requests for hampers than we can offer. I can confirm that over the next week, we will have to turn some organisations away, or not be able to fill their full requirements.
This is HUGE proof that we have many, many, many families struggling at Christmas..... (All bloody year too) I hate this, I hate the fact we have gone back to Victorian times, where there are few with more money than ever needed, and then there are so many people with nothing, with no heating, no food, no way out of poverty and an absolute shambles of government after government.
Wealth, health, education, safety and all other basic forms of life are just sent upwards.... with the poor being the masses whom everyone else profits off. Exactly like they did hundreds of years back....the stigma of poverty on children is witnessed in schools across the country.
We have been requested so far 88 hampers for schools to hand out to families with children....... that's not a good thing at all. You will have children/grand children at a school in Dumfries & Galloway, that you take home to a warm meal, watch a film on Netflix with, cuddle up all warm, talking about next years holiday or plans for Christmas shopping trips and so on...... and everyone should have no regret about their fortune or luck.
BUT...... please just take 5 minutes and talk to your kids.... they might know a family struggling, they know these things, feel these things, which we adults forget - unfairness, isolation, not fitting in etc. Your children will put a name to a child, they will enlighten you on who is missing out, maybe then...... if you can avoid a take out, or restaurant trip and send us £15
£15 will pay for a whole hamper, 5 hot evening meals for a family up to 6 people, a 3 course Christmas Dinner as one of those meal too.
Please, Please, Please share this... let people know we exist, let people know that your not doing Christmas cards this year as you have donated to us, let relatives know elsewhere in the world, that Dumfries & Galloway like everywhere else is struggling with poverty, maybe you have a relative who £15 means nothing, maybe you have a relative struggling and you can engage with them how you can help them.
Louisa and I will do whatever needs to be done to get these 500 families their hamper on December the 22nd, we'll pay the deficit ourselves, out of our essential minimum paid job, we will not let this split in society be our downfall, or the families we pledge to helps loss.
I see the good in so many people, please help us now, when we are £3,000 short of our target, please if you can donate here are the details, if you want to share this please do so.
88 school families across the whole county, is the not a total figure, its the figure we are aware of that we can help..... I can tell you, with the cost of food going up so much, with no one doing a thing above us to ease the situation, there will be hundreds and hundreds of children over Christmas, eating meals other would call snacks, eating foods others wont eat, dreaming of simple things like, heating, mums better health, dad getting a job (Or vice versa)
