It’s important to check the health of your oil tank throughout the year, but do you know what to look out for?
Things such as the plastic drying out, leaks and cracks are easy to identify, but what about inside the tank? By allowing your tank to run low during the summer, you are leaving room for condensation to build up which eventually creates a layer of water at the bottom of your tank.
Water in your tank is the ideal breeding ground for bacterial microbes, which can lead to a layer of sludge settling below the water. If the water and sludge are not removed from the tank this eventually seeps into your fuel supply line, causing the boiler to stop working.
