Sometimes I focus on the next steps and forget how far the back garden has come! Mostly with cuttings and plants grown from seed…. And lots of enjoyable graft 💪🏻 🌱 (the before pic was 3 years ago).

Front garden foxgloves 🥰 I love these native biennials (that seem to be perennials in our garden for now - probably short lived). They do so well in this north facing windy spot. The bees are in and out of them all day ✅ (spot the bee in the second pic).

White Camassia (Camassia leichtlinii subsp. suksdorfii ‘Alba’) has flowered for the first time this year (planted in 2023) in our little coastal north facing front garden 🙌🏼 Apparently the flowers are very long lived - what’s your experience? I love the star shaped blooms that are being visited regularly by lots of creatures 🐝 🪰 ✨

Flower pressing is one of my all-time favourite therapeutic horticulture activities ❤️ This week with a health centre group we took a walk around the gardens, collecting leaves and flowers, and put them into my press. I don’t think it’s ever been so full! Over the next few weeks will be making cards and artwork. 🌼 🌺

The sun was out for All About Ponds session at Growing Matters, Gilmerton House. Such a fab chance to learn from their experience of installing the beautiful 1 year old pond, watch swallows dipping in, and hear from local gardeners and interested folks 🌱 🐸

Currant bushes off to their new home at the school garden. P6/7 worked together to w**d, prepare soil, and plant them up. We’re aiming to reduce maintenance in some of the raised beds this year so will be underplanting with strawberries and herbs 🍓 🌱

A gorgeous selection of plants installed this week around a client’s lovely woodland hut. We chose plants that can tolerate some shade and bring interest across the seasons (including astrantia, thalictrum, pulmonaria) for this woodland clearing. They’re deer fenced for now, at least until they settle in.

Next step - a 10m long deadhedge!
