Mad May, we made it through. It was a brilliant month of bluebells, new planting, endless weeding, a brief heatwave and persistent rain, midges on fire and colours refreshing as the seasons shift. Summer is fast approaching.

Happy New Year to all our clients and followers! Getting ourselves ready for another season of gardening around Cowal, and keeping our fitness up between mince pies and holiday feet-up time.

📸From a walk up Bishop’s Seat, for the fantastic uninterrupted views across Cowal and beyond. We could see Glasgow in the distance, Schehallion, and maybe even a distant glimpse of the Pentlands.

Got there just in time for some scrumptious plant-based focaccia and raw brownies from today at the packed out Inner Wheel craft fair.

‘Tis the season of bulb planting. About 600 done and many more to go! 🌱

Our clients do love their bulbs. And we love planting them. Snowdrops, snowflakes, daffodils, crocus, snakeshead fritillaries and ixias, we’ve been planting blooms to bring our gardens and pollinators out of winter with some sweet blooms.

We’ve laid out a few irises here to plant deep into the soil - the usual rule of thumb is to plant your bulbs 3 x the size of them deep. But it can vary, so check the instructions that come with your bulbs.

I’m on the hunt for pots for growing on lots of plants on. Big, small and anything between. If you live around Dunoon, have a pile of usable ones cluttering your shed, just let me know. I’d happily collect and reuse, and keep them out of landfill.
