This full garden renovation transformed a heavily waterlogged and difficult-to-maintain outdoor space into a clean, practical, and visually striking garden. The original garden suffered from persistent flooding issues, with low-lying areas regularly becoming swamped and causing existing plants and lawn areas to fail. Sections of fencing had also begun leaning due to the unstable ground conditions.
The project involved a complete reworking of the garden layout and levels. New raised timber sleeper planters were installed throughout the space to improve drainage, create structure, and introduce defined planting areas. All timber retaining elements were treated internally with waterproof black jack coating to maximise durability and protect against future moisture issues.
Over 40 tonnes of fresh imported topsoil was brought into the property to rebuild levels and improve growing conditions across the entire garden. The lawn area was then fully returfed, creating a healthy, level finish that completely changed the appearance of the space.
Two new natural stone patio areas were installed — one adjoining the property and another seating area positioned at the rear of the garden — helping create functional outdoor living spaces while complementing the surrounding landscaping.
The fencing was repaired and straightened throughout the project, dramatically improving the overall finish and security of the garden. New planting borders and rockery details were also introduced to soften the space and add colour and texture.
Despite the clean final appearance, the project was extremely labour intensive due to difficult site access. All materials, including soil, paving, timber, and turf, had to be transported down ramps and carried approximately 200 metres from the loading area to the garden itself. The work was completed during peak summer temperatures with blistering heat and very little shade, adding another level of challenge to the build.
The before-and-after images highlight the complete transformation — from a dry, patchy, poorly functioning garden into a fresh, level, well-structured outdoor space designed for both appearance and long-term usability.
