Finally finished this fantastic project for the Salvation Army, and we’re incredibly proud to have been trusted with our second roofing contract for such a respected charity here in the UK.
This project involved stripping off all of the original asbestos slates, which were professionally removed and disposed of by Best Demolition. We then counter-battened the existing roof with 50x25mm battens before installing TLX Gold breathable felt to improve the roof’s thermal performance and future U-value.
New 25x50 battens were fitted and the roof was finished with beautiful Del Carmen Ultra Spanish natural slates. We also renewed all leadwork, including the box gutters and chimney step flashings, before installing a dry ridge system to provide long-term ventilation and maintenance-free performance.
All firewalls, front and back, were finished with a fresh monocouche render coat, providing a clean and durable finish. We also treated all coping stones with two coats of HydroSeal liquid rubber coating for added protection and longevity.
To complete the project, we installed 98 solar panels on one of the roof sections. This investment will help reduce energy costs and enable the Salvation Army to continue their incredible work with lower running expenses in the future.
A huge thank you to the Salvation Army for once again putting their trust in us. It is a privilege to be involved in projects that make a real difference to the community, and we are honoured to have completed our second project for such a well-respected charity in the UK.
