This was a tricky one. This enormous Poplar with an endless list of defects had to come down. A bit of a nervy climb as the stem had numerous brackets and considerable decay with a large number of hung up limbs.

Ideally a cherry picker or a crane would have been ideal but ground conditions made it impractical as access was difficult and the ground very soft. Climbing trees such as this should always be a last resort but with careful planning, absolutely no rigging and taking ones time it can go exactly to plan.

Haven't posted anything new in a while as we have had an unprecedentedly busy start to the year. Not complaining.

Today's job was on another local landmark. This stunning copper beach hadn't been touched in a while. Our advice was to crown lift to avoid large vehicles hitting the lower branches along with a thorough crown clean, removing any Deadwood and overlapping branches. At the same time we removed a small percentage of small/epicormic growth.

There isn't a much noticeable difference in the before/ after and neither should there be. With these high amenity specimens less is more.

As we head towards our 5th anniversary of being in business, we hope to expand upon Plant More Trees with a series of popup stalls dedicated to giving away even more tree specimens.

Do you have a space that could host this?

We’re hoping to partner with a multitude of local groups/locations who can offer an area for us to set up a stall for a few hours on mutually suitable dates later in the Spring.

During this time we would give out tree saplings & planting/care advice to the public, with donations encouraged for a different, local, charity at each pop-up.

We would also seek approval for us to promote the event taking place at your location via our social media and website.

Our plan is to reach out to some places directly in the coming weeks, however if you have a business/premises with considerable foot traffic and feel this is something you would be interested in getting involved then email us at [email protected].

As we've entered the New Year, we're also heading into our fifth year of business. (July to be exact.) 🎉

To mark the event, we will be looking at many opportunities to celebrate and share the occasion with the communities we work within as much as possible. We're hoping to give back and connect more than ever.

In order to give our team some much deserved rest and time with their families over Christmas, Deadwood Arborists will close for business at 4pm on December 20th.

From then until January 3rd, we will not be accepting any phone calls & recommend using our website contact form for any new requests.
