Talisman Tree Care was established by David Paterson in 2009 with an ethos to provide high quality and reliable professional services to our customers and clients, offering sound impartial advice and the ability to achieve the customer’s objectives in the most efficient, safe and affordable manner. David studied Countryside and Woodland Management at both Sparsholt College in Hampshire and The Bar

ony College in Scotland. He went on to work for Hampshire County Council’s Countryside Service in 1998 and remained employed for over a decade, starting off in the Rights of Way maintenance section and finally becoming Senior Ranger for 2 of the counties flagship sites. Having worked in such a frontline environment means that David is very focused on customer service and values his ability to communicate effectively and appropriately. Having cut his teeth as a young cutter in the commercial forests of Scotland, it naturally followed that David’s love of climbing hills and mountains would lead him into climbing trees. In 2005 David qualified as an NPTC certified Arborist and rescue climber. Since then he has gained industry recognized qualifications in all aspects of arboriculture, woodland and conservation land management. Over the years David has been fortunate enough to gain extensive experience in many fields, such as:

• Domestic and commercial tree surgery

• Conservation and agri environment scheme works;

• Managing site clearances;

• Section 106 mitigation works on urban development sites. Regardless of his surroundings David always has a good understanding of his customers needs and with his depth of knowledge can always achieve the best outcomes for both the customer and the environment. Took the opportunity to ring and weigh the whole brood and add them to the BTO (British Trust for Ornithology) survey to help monitor populations,range, movement and the like.

Had to travel all the way to Yorkshire to find the right training course, but given the effect the disease can have on the structural integrity of the tree and the implications this poses from a safety point of view it was worth the journey!
