Who's having fun with Short Term Let licences? There are those days when you know you're beaten and the only thing for it is to switch everything off and go home for a stiff drink. Today was one of those. I'm looking at seven STL licences. Today's is in the Borders. The Scottish Government website says:
"
If your accommodation is not in a 'control area', and you do not have planning permission, you may still need this to apply for a short-term let licence.
You should check this with the local council planning department."
So I e-mailed Scottish Borders Council and asked if we need Planning Permission for a short term let in Gattonside and the response was:
Unfortunately, Scottish Borders Council no longer provide written confirmation in response to general planning enquiries about the need for planning permission. Guidance on what needs planning permission is however available on our website. Should you need a formal written response, we will require the submission of an application for Certificate of Lawfulness for a Proposed Use or Development.
I was only introduced to the world of Short term Let licences a week ago but I can honestly say I've never before encountered such a tragedy of errors, misinformation, confusing websites. The Scottish government have excelled themselves this time!
