My stay at Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam
Set within a row of beautiful historic canal houses on the Herengracht, everything inside feels serene and impossibly elegant. Shades of white, soft neutrals, beautiful proportions and that rare sense of luxury that doesn’t need to announce itself.
My room overlooked the canal, and I could happily have spent the entire stay there. Coffee by the window in the morning, watching bicycles pass over the bridge and boats drift along the water below. Returning in the afternoon to that wonderful stillness, knowing that Amsterdam was waiting just beyond the front door.
And then there is the hospitality. From the moment you arrive, you are remembered and looked after with such warmth that coming back through the doors begins to feel like being greeted by old friends.
Perhaps that is the real luxury of staying here. You have one of Europe’s most beautiful cities at your feet, yet somehow, once you are inside, there is absolutely nowhere else you would rather be.
An Amsterdam address to keep tucked away for the day you decide to make a few days in the city feel very special.
