Delighted to share highlights from our recent series on Sustainable Design for Home and Community, a collaboration between GALLANT (Glasgow as a Living Lab Accelerating Novel Transformation)
+ AdesignStorie
Over four workshops, we came together to explore practical, creative, and community-focused ways to make our homes and shared spaces more sustainable:
1. Sustainable Material Exploration 🪵
We got hands-on with natural, reclaimed, and low-impact materials—like cork, bamboo, and compostable textiles—learning how to design interiors that are healthier for people and the planet.
2. Community Co-Design Workshop 👥
Through collaborative exercises, we explored how sustainable choices can improve shared spaces, foster wellbeing, and strengthen a sense of ownership within our communities.
3. Green Mapping for Interiors 🗺️
Participants picked up practical tools to assess home sustainability, map energy use and materials, and uncover opportunities for eco-friendly improvements.
4. Nature Mapping Walk & Creative Overlay 🌳
Our final workshop brought the series outdoors, inviting participants to connect directly with Glasgow’s natural environment. Together, we sketched and identified local trees and fungi, explored biomimicry as a tool for sustainable home design. This hands-on session tied together themes of sustainability, co-design, and biophilic design, rounding off the programme.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined—your curiosity, creativity, and energy made this series an absolute pleasure to host!
