Layouts for Hillpark House - a small home with a simple arrangement. Designed to have everything needed on one floor, with additional bedrooms upstairs, the home responds to the specific needs of the client.
No matter the size of the house, the same principles apply - clear lines of sight and movement, engagement between inside and out, honest and simple material selection.

The interiors at Hillpark House offer a sanctuary from the city, a feeling of calm and openness away from the bustle.
The house is compact, but invites large amounts of natural light in to make it feel generous in its volume.

Hillpark House, a recently completed small new build home, designed to be discreetly tucked into a tight garden plot in Edinburgh.
The house has been designed to work on a single level for the specific needs of the user, with ancillary bedrooms upstairs for support workers.
Arranged as an ‘L’ shaped floor plan, the spaces pivot around a central semi-open stair, with the large open plan living, kitchen and dining area enjoying the southwest aspect as well as views to a small sheltered courtyard garden to the rear.

Tràigh House sits across the threshold between pine forest and sand dunes, embracing the transition as the landscape opens to the sea. Shelter to exposure, dark into light.

Edinburgh’s New Town is a pretty special place, and the opportunity to build a new house within it, adding to the deep heritage and tradition of the area is a wonderful privilege.
The latest addition is in full swing on site with and , the construction of a new mews style dwelling on a tight spot in one of the many New Town lanes. Looking forward to sharing more as the project takes shape.

At the heart of Tràigh House is a series of interiors that reflect the practice’s commitment to clarity, materiality, and atmosphere.
Natural materials are used with precision and restraint, creating a palette that feels both grounded, refined and calm, tactile environments shaped by light and proportion.

Tràigh House - a large but simply arranged family home.
Focussed around a central corridor, the house is configured to offer all public and private spaces key views to the sea. More intimate spaces, such as the gym and screening room, are arranged around a small private courtyard garden.
Informed by its position, the house makes the most of its aspect, with clear lines of sight and movement throughout.

Introducing Tràigh House – a new home set within a remote coastal landscape in west Scotland.
Defined by its extraordinary setting, Tràigh House sits at the meeting point between dense pine forest and a pristine dune system. Straddling this threshold becomes the foundation of the design – a response not just to place, but to transition and movement through landscape.
Here, Tràigh House is experienced as refuge – a place of calm, privacy and retreat. The design is intentionally restrained on approach, holding back from the drama of the wider site to create a moment of pause before the house releases itself toward the coastal landscape and the vastness beyond.
This is architecture that begins with context – shaped by place. Look out for more on this new project in upcoming posts!
