An exciting moment on site at Church Hill ✨

The green oak trusses are now going up within the main central living space and what a difference they make. Seeing these beautiful structural elements installed really starts to bring the character and scale of the space to life.

Alongside the site progress, we’re also sharing an updated visualisation of the finished interior to show how the exposed oak structure will define the atmosphere of the completed room.

A quick site update from Church Hill 🏡

Great to see this project progressing well, with the steel structure now in place and the new spaces really starting to take shape on site.

This new house includes a bright, open-plan kitchen / dining / living area, with great views out to the garden and is designed to support modern living. It’s always exciting to reach this stage, where the scale and flow of the spaces become tangible.

Revisiting a completed project — and seeing it in a whole new light ✨

This ground-floor reorganisation transformed the heart of the home into a generous open-plan kitchen / dining / living space, incorporating the existing conservatory and upgrading it to a fully insulated, comfortable room that can be enjoyed year-round.

Carefully positioned glazing helps the space feel truly connected to the garden, bringing in light and creating a seamless indoor–outdoor relationship.

Elsewhere, the garage was converted into a large playroom alongside a handy utility space located right by the driveway — practical, flexible additions that make everyday life easier.

It’s been great to see the property recently brought back to the market, beautifully photographed (and even filmed), showcasing the spaces at their best. The house is currently under offer and ready for its next owners.

The proposals focus on high-quality, considered alterations at ground floor and cellar level, designed to better connect the house with its rear garden while respecting the original character of the property.

At ground floor, the kitchen and dining room are opened up to create a generous, open-plan space with improved flow, storage and day-to-day usability. The existing rear extension — previously used for utility and storage — is transformed into a spacious living room overlooking the garden.

Below, a neatly tucked-away art studio is introduced at cellar level, adding flexible, creative space without compromising the garden or the house’s original proportions.

The existing layout felt disconnected from the garden, and these alterations carefully resolve that — enhancing how the home is used while preserving its original aspect.

The original kitchen dated back to the 1960s, so this upgrade was all about creating a home that supports modern living — making the most of the property’s proximity to the city centre while retaining valuable garden space and parking.

It’s been great to see the spaces recently styled for the sales particulars and the house is now ready for its next owners to move in and make it their own.

Planning approved for this bungalow transformation on Orchard Brae ✨ — just a stone’s throw from our office.

After inheriting the property, our clients explored whether to sell or reimagine the home for themselves. Together, we developed a scheme that unlocks the full potential of the house and sets it up for its next chapter.

The approved design includes a rear extension creating a generous, open-plan kitchen / dining / living space with ample glazing to the garden. A side extension neatly accommodates a useful utility and study, alongside a secondary living room — with the flexibility to become a future bedroom if needed.

Above, the attic conversion makes full use of the existing roof space to form a spacious principal bedroom and en-suite.

This full house renovation will breathe new life into the home, blending practicality, flexibility and light-filled spaces.

A fresh new chapter for this listed Windsor Street flat in Edinburgh ✨

This internal alteration and refit reimagined the layout to better suit family life — relocating the kitchen to create a generous, light-filled kitchen with a breakfast bar, open to the living space and overlooking the rear garden.

The project also included refitting both existing bathrooms and upgrading the layout of this 3-bedroom flat, carefully respecting the original features while incorporating subtle, modern detailing.

NGP Architecture has been involved since the purchase of the property, guiding the project through design and construction — and we’re delighted to now share the completed spaces, ready for a young family to move in.
