So after a lot of thought and sleepless nights I have decided to stop my Handy Murray Landscaping business. It’s been a wonderful near 16 years and I have met some incredible people over the years and I thank you all for supporting my business over the years but now it’s time to give more time to my family.

Running your own business is great but comes with a huge amount of stress and long hours a lot of hours people don’t see. Endless hours out looking at jobs then at the kitchen table doing estimates/invoices and for the past year I’ve been hugely bothered with anxiety and sleepless nights and I have decided it’s time to stop. I have a few jobs to finish up in the coming weeks then that will be me.

Been a fun week. A job that we thought was straight forward has ended with us putting in new drains to a front garden before we turf it.

A little 2 much for my micro digger so gave Craig a quick shout CWS Joinery Ltd for a hire of his digger. Had been a god send. Give him a shout if you’re looking for digger hire.

Nice garden makeover this week. Out with the old slabs lift the Astro. New slabs down and lock block edge for the Astro then re lay Astro and top up the chuckies.

So tomorrow night my 10 year old daughter Layla takes on a big sponsorship challenge to swim 200 lengths of a 25m pool in Ellon between 18:15-21:15.

She is doing this to raise funds for her football team Buchan Stars trip to the Edinburgh international cup in August but also for 2 charities close to her heart.

Those charities are MND for Layla’s favourite butcher Ewan Morrice Quality Butcher and Mhairi Philip for Home-Start Garioch

If any of my customers would like to sponsor Layla some pennies she would be massively grateful and help push her towards the finish line.

Layla along with her Buchan Stars team mates is attending The Edinburgh International Cup football tournament in August this year. Each of the girls have to individually raise £200 to help cover the costs of the trip. This is a rare chance for the girls to compete against teams not just from around the UK but around the world.

To raise her funds Layla is going to be doing a 5K swim which is 200 lengths of the pool. 🏊🏻 🏊🏼‍♀️

This will be in one go not staged over a period of time.

Job Vacancy - Please like and share

Due to crazy work load!

We are looking for a groundworker/labourer to join the Handy Murray team. The position would suit a young person/school leaver that’s keen to learn and work hard. Rate of pay will vary depending on age and experience. Must take pride in there work

Job includes assisting with various landscape projects such as

* Porcelain patios
* Composite decking
* Artificial grass
* Fencing
And other aspects of Landscaping.

No previous experience required but would be favourable.
Must be hard working, punctual and well mannered.
A good level of fitness is required as position is physically demanding.
Job Term: 6 month contract with a possible full time position for the right applicant.
Work base is Ellon but also covering the north east.

Another garden finished today in Peterhead. This one has been a proper challenge with the weather but got there in the end.
Tasked with creating an astro football pitch for 2 football daft lads to save the house being covered in dubs.
Really makes our job worthwhile when the customer sends you a picture of the boys straight home from school and out and playing fitba. Materials from Jamiesons quarry and North East Timber Supplies
