Oh Sew Perfect

Oh Sew Perfect A relaxed and friendly bespoke soft furnishings service, tailored to the individual. Bespoke made I launched Oh Sew Perfect back in August 2012. Katherine x

Welcome to Oh Sew Perfect, a small, professional business focusing on providing a personal service to meet the client's exact requirements. Originally based at the family farm in Fisherford, I set up a workshop where I began building the business. In April 2015, I moved to a new larger studio in the lovely village of Methlick, Aberdeenshire. The new studio has allowed my business to grow and offer

a wider range of products. I have developed a large fabric library with over 300 fabric sample books, all from quality but affordable brands. My routes for my passion and skill to create quality soft furnishings stem from a young age, always creative and precise with my favourite subject at school being art and graphic design. I absolutely love my work and can't imagine doing anything else! Please feel free to get in touch with any questions you may have or if you would like to make an appointment to visit my design studio, and thank you for visiting my business page.

Hello! šŸ‘‹šŸ»
I am still here, and cannot believe it’s already almost March… I haven’t posted anything sewing related this year šŸ™ˆ

Playing catch up now in sharing not only my recently completed orders this year so far, but more importantly, orders that I completed last year that I have never got around to sharing.

This order was installed back in October and was for a returning client who I have made multiple soft furnishings for since my early days in business, almost 14 years ago!

My client was looking for a door curtain to help keep the heat in over winter at the front door of their home. This lovely wool with a parquet weave was the perfect shade to complement the colour of the door, and with a satin fleece lining, it was more than enough to keep the heat in whilst not looking too chunky. With a cottage pleat heading, a slight kick on the floor and hung from a satin gold pole, it is elegant whilst retaining the traditional feel of my clients period property.

I also added a fringing to an existing pelmet that I made a few years back to add more depth, with new tassel tiebacks to match. The pelmet originally was made to clear the shutters, but my client always felt it was too slim, so by adding a fringing, it makes the pelmet feel deeper but does not impact the shutters from opening.

Hopefully I do better this year at sharing finished work than I did last year… šŸ™ˆ

Well 2026 is off to a great start isn’t it? šŸ™ˆ

Unfortunately I have been unable to make it to my studio so far, but Murphy is enjoying an extended holiday with lovely wintry walks at Haddo.

I hope to make it along to my studio tomorrow at some point and then hopefully be back to work properly from Thursday, fingers crossed.

Another year in business means another year of my top nine most liked posts of 2025… not bad considering I’ve only shared half of the work I have actually completed šŸ™ˆ

Thank you again to all of my clients for trusting me to create your soft furnishings. It’s been a testing year for me on a personal level, but hopefully 2026 will be a fresh new year with lots of making memories and lots of beautiful fabrics!

That’s it for another year!

Thank you to all my lovely clients for trusting me to create your curtains, blinds, and accessories throughout the year. It’s been an absolute joy to help make everyone’s homes that little bit more pretty yet practical, and I am looking forward to working with many more clients in the new year.
My apologies also for the lack of social media posts, I have completely lost my mojo with it but I will get back on track next year. I have LOADS to share from as far back as the summer!

It’s time for me to have a much needed break, and I will return to work on Monday 5th January, hopefully rested and ready to sew!

Merry Christmas! šŸ„‚

Having worked on a whole house project over the last year, I have saved the best for last… this scheme was the most fun EVER!! šŸ†

My client has the most amazing vision and when we first discussed the bar, the words leopard print and velvet were mentioned and I was completely sold!
This show stopping cut velvet by Romo was the chosen fabric for the bay pelmet, and the photos do not do this fabric justice at all. To tie in with a piece of artwork, we went with a rich green velvet by Villa Nova and added a black tassel trim from Samuel & Sons to the blinds… as why not go all out?!
I also made two cushions with excess fabric with a black piping for a sharp contrast.

This is up there as one of my favourite schemes I have ever been lucky enough to be commissioned to make in my 13 years of being in business, and my biggest whole house project to date. Feeling very lucky they chose me to make their dream home that bit more dreamy 🄰

Following on from my recent posts of the whole house project I was lucky to be asked to do the soft furnishings for, next up is the utility, the upstairs landing and two bathrooms.

I made a box cushion for my clients beautiful utility room/boot room, expertly modelled by Kasper the cat 🐈
My client already had a table cloth from Mrs Alice that she wanted to use for the door, so we used that to make a cute cafe style curtain with chrome cafe rods to match the door handle and bench drawer handles. The bench cushion was made using Romo Linara in a soft cream shade with green piping to complement the scatter cushions.

For the upstairs landing, I made a second box cushion for the large picture window overlooking the river. The is my largest box cushions to date, and although it doesn’t look it in the photos, it’s huge at 3 metres long! Again, this was made in the same soft cream shade of Linara as the utility bench cushion and piped in a deep black for a lovely contrast.

Finally, two bathrooms received small pelmets to dress the windows. Using a black velvet by Villa Nova, with cream velcet piping and then finished with a black tassel trim by Samuel and Sons, it’s timeless and classic with a little fun trim to mix it up!

I have one room left to share of this amazing project and I have definitely saved the best for last… ā¤ļø

I am always on the lookout to offer fabrics that are different and keep up with the latest seasonal trends, so here are some of my favourite new additions to my fabric library in my studio… lots of patterns, textures and some colour, as well as timeless neutrals that will always be popular.

Continuing with the whole house project I have been sharing over the last few weeks, the next batch of images is the kitchen.

My client had already decided on a fabric by prior to visiting my studio, and it could not have suited the room better! Timeless and elegant, it compliments the kitchen styling whilst flowing with the rest of the greens used in adjacent rooms. The two blinds at the kitchen sink I thought were just utterly adorable!

Following on from my recent posts of a whole house project that I completed recently, next is the upstairs lounge.

Continuing with a green theme and pulling inspiration from the sofa cushions, we went with a beautiful rich green velvet for a striking door curtain, trimmed with a tassel trim from Samuel & Sons. A double pleat heading and hung from a gold metal pole, complete with tieback, it adds a level of pure luxury to the room!
For the seven roman blinds we used a gold hammered effect satin fabric with green velvet pelmets, complete with matching tassel trim to finish the look.
Using every scrap of fabric and tassel trim left, I made an oblong cushion for the single chair, as you can never have enough cushions!
