Aerial views showcasing the idyllic setting of this new build home, designed by our team.

Surrounded by countryside, the house was carefully positioned to make the most of the landscape, with a strong connection between the indoor living spaces and the outdoors. Large bifold doors open onto the patio and gardens beyond, allowing the views to become part of everyday life.

Contemporary in style both inside and out, the home was also designed with sustainability in mind. The solar panels visible on the roof are just one of several features incorporated to improve energy efficiency and help future proof the property.

Crisp white render, natural stone and a slate roof create a striking home that works perfectly for modern family living.

As we head towards the end of the warmer, sunnier days, we're looking back at Linton House - an idyllic new-build home designed by our team on the edge of Dartmoor National Park.

The beautiful setting played a huge part in the design, with the living spaces positioned to make the most of the countryside views and create a strong connection to the outdoors. Wide sliding doors open directly onto the patio, creating an easy flow between inside and out during the summer months.

Contemporary in style but with plenty of traditional details, the oak-framed porch and natural stone give a nod to Devon's rural heritage, while modern glazing brings a cleaner look and fills the home with natural light.

A home designed to make the most of its wonderful location, whatever the season.

Inside our White Lodge project, where the rear extension created space for this light-filled living area with a direct connection to the garden.

Large sliding doors on two sides sit flush with the terrace, allowing the space to open easily to the outdoors, while the double-height design brings in even more natural light. Above, we introduced a mezzanine level, with a contemporary staircase connecting the lounge to the kitchen and dining area.

Built-in shelving runs along the staircase wall, providing plenty of space for books, artwork and personal pieces that bring warmth and personality to the contemporary interior.

Taking a step back at our White Lodge project today, showing the scale of the transformation and how the house now sits within its sloping plot.

One of our clients' biggest frustrations with the original home was the lack of easy access to the rear garden, which sat considerably lower than the main house. Creating a much stronger connection between the two became an important part of the remodel.

The new rear extension works with the change in levels, opening the living spaces onto a raised patio via large sliding doors and shaped windows above. Crisp white render and dark metal cladding completely update the exterior, while the generous glazing brings much-needed natural light into the home.

A very different house to what stood here before, but one designed to make far better use of both the home and its impressive plot.

"Do I actually need an architect?"

It's one of the questions we're asked most often.

The answer isn't always as straightforward as you might think.

Rather than focusing solely on qualifications or job titles, the more important question is: does the person you're appointing have the experience, knowledge and expertise to successfully deliver your project from start to finish?

In this video, our founder Mitch explains the questions you should be asking before appointing a designer for your build project, and why competency and experience are just as important as qualifications.

If you're planning a project and would like some advice to get started, our team would be happy to help.👋🏼

Thank you to our client for this wonderful feedback on their new build home in Mid Devon.

This project will transform a former derelict barn into a bespoke family home, carefully designed to complement the rural surroundings while providing all the space and comfort needed for modern living. Working closely with our client, we helped turn their initial ideas into a design that balances functionality, sustainability and design, while ensuring the home is practical and more importantly, buildable.

It's also another example of our experience with Class Q. We first secured prior approval to convert the existing barn before successfully obtaining full planning permission for a replacement dwelling, demonstrating that the new home was a clear betterment over the original structure.

We can't wait to see construction begin and watch this new home take shape.

West Hill Heights was a remarkable transformation of a tired chalet bungalow into a striking contemporary home in East Devon.

The potential of the property was always there. Set on an elevated plot surrounded by woodland and countryside, the location was exceptional, but the original house didn't make the most of it.

The design focused on strengthening the connection between the home and its surroundings. The main living spaces were positioned above the garage, allowing the family to feel immersed in the treetops and enjoy views across the landscape. Large areas of glazing bring natural light deep into the home while ensuring the countryside remains a constant backdrop throughout the living spaces.

While contemporary in style, the home also incorporates natural materials that work well in its setting. A substantial stone wall at ground level provides a strong connection to the local landscape, complementing the clean lines and modern finishes used elsewhere in the design.

A look at Hillcrest Barn, our recently designed new-build home in South Devon, due to begin construction in early 2027.

Set on an exceptional rural site, the project began with plans approved under Class Q to convert the existing barn. We then successfully secured planning permission for a replacement dwelling by demonstrating a betterment over the original scheme. The new design retains the character and proportions of the existing barn, while creating a spacious contemporary family home. See the final slide for what currently stands on the site and the potential that our team have unlocked!

With incredible 270-degree views across the surrounding landscape, the home has been designed to make the most of its position. Large areas of contemporary glazing, including corner windows, will bring in plenty of natural light and open up far-reaching views from throughout the home.

We can't wait to see this one get underway.🌿

Organic growth for rural East Devon.

We’ve just wrapped up the concept scheme for a new 7-home development in the heart of East Devon.

Our goal wasn’t just to add housing, but to help the village grow sustainably. We’ve designed a mix of 2, 3, and 4-bedroom homes to cater to different stages of life, ensuring a balanced community feel.

Critically, the architecture is designed to reflect the character of the nearby village. Rather than standing out, the scheme is designed to "nestle" into the local environment, respecting the rural vernacular and the landscape.

A thoughtful addition to a beautiful area. Next step: Planning! 🤞
