Hope everyone's week is off to a good start today.
Last week was really varied which is what I love about this job. I had a customer in Exmouth who called in a bit of a panic because their uPVC door handle had gone completely loose and floppy, and she was worried about security. When I arrived I could see straightaway that the multipoint locking mechanism was failing - you could feel it 'grinding' when you tried to operate the handle and the latch wasn't retracting properly. I carry a good stock of parts on my van so I was able to replace the mechanism there and then, no need for a second visit. She was so relieved - apparently they’d been wrestling with it for weeks!
I also helped someone in Sidmouth who'd been quoted way too much to replace their whole door because it was 'rubbing' on the frame and letting cold air in. It urned out that the door had just dropped slightly out of alignment which is really common. I realigned it properly and adjusted the hinges - job done in about an hour and saved them hundreds of pounds.
I also had a customer in Budleigh who couldn’t lock her windows - I serviced them and replaced one of the handles.
Then another uPVC door issue in Topsham - this time the mechanism needed replacing and I realigned the door while I was there. Again - all done in one visit. If your UPVC door handle feels loose, or you have to really yank it up to get it to lock, or you can see light coming through the seals, then the mechanism is probably on its way out or the door needs realigning. Don't ignore it - it'll only get worse and potentially leave you insecure. Give me a call and I'll give you an honest assessment.
As always, there’s no call-out charge and I’ll always give a fixed price before I start work. I'm fully insured and DBS checked for your peace of mind.
Have a great week everyone! 👍 🐒
