Moving on with the new piece. Lines are inked and the crosshatch shading has just begun.. (watch this space for a short WIP video coming soon..) So yeh, still doing my houses buried in among foliage with animal-themed transport thing.. Plenty of cats! 😺 I realised I had to squeeze a few extra in upon my decision of what to call this piece.. Also, can anyone spot a secret movie reference? (one of my all time favourite movies..) I think I've managed to get a good 'overgrown plants' feel to this one.. - The driving gardens of Catylon. Moving on! next piece pencil sketch finished.. Was inspired by someone suggesting I should draw more vans.. So, we get.. animal vans! (as per my continued style), yeh more cats.. Thankfully didn't take long to think of a title - 'The driving gardens of Catylon' (one of the wonders of the cat world? :D ) Next stage, line inking.. :) 🐱

Very early first scribbly of next piece.. I felt it's important to show this stage, just as I begin with a blank sheet of paper and a freshly sharpened pencil, flowing out the lines, finding the composition.. Even at this stage, ideas come for the name of the piece.

New doodle finished recently. Took approx 40 hours. More generic of my style because I wanted to use a different pen as an experiment, a more standard cheaper one called a Uni-pen than my usual Rotring rapidograph. I took the name of this piece from my all time favourite snes game Secret of Mana, a character called a 'Mushboom' (walking talking mushroom creatures), so it became a kind of strange mushroom head nightclub, well it's fantasy art, and that's what I do! It's all about exploration and asset creation. Very happy with the pen line stroke, got surprisingly good results! Anyhoo, this is 'Club Mushboom' A3 ink pen. When I started drawing with ink pens as a kid, I always wanted to have that kinda 'curved' pen stroke that professional cartoonists/comic artists got, I used to wonder how Jim Davis (Garfield) did it, well I think he used a brush, but his line work was sublime.. So, this different pen I'm using is giving me a similar pen stroke, (the line is thicker, then thins out at the end) gets a really nice looking professional result! Quite happy so far :) 'Club Mushboom' A3 ink pen. 🍄 ✍️

New piece lines inked. This time with Uni-pen. Results are fairly good, not as crisp and sharp as my Rotring, but I felt like I could line this faster. Took the name 'Mushboom' from my all time favourite video game (Secret of Mana) It was going to be a giant cat head, but after some thought it seemed a little too dark as an idea. So now it's a kind of Mushroom head thing! 'Club Mushboom' A3 ink pen. 🍄

Next piece pencil sketch just about done. I just love drawing rooftops and gables, tucked in among leafy flora, a sprinkling of birds and cats.. Just enjoy compositions like this. This one is called 'Club Mushboom' I took the name from a character in an old video game I used to play called Secret of Mana (my all time favourite game) Some of the creatures were walking Mushroom men called Mushbooms, so now you know :) 🍄✍️

Work begins on the next piece.. I'm a bit further on from this now. Provisionally titled 'The Cat Head Bar', its more generic for my style, will be slightly experimental as I'll be using a Uni pen instead of my usual Rotring. We'll see how it turns out.. ✍️
