If you notice one of your plants not thriving, maybe looking a bit stunted, sick. You could have a vine weevil problem. While repotting a Hydrangea for a Customer today, I discovered the culprits. As soon as I started removing the Hydrangea from its pot, it came away with no effort.The weevils quite happily feed on the roots of the plant sometimes obliterating the root system to little or sometimes if not discovered quick enough, nothing. The roots of the plant need to be drenched in a vine weevil killer. This is the only treatment. Trying to remove them all by hand is near impossible as they hide out in areas its hard to reach.

Now that is what you call a very large bulb. Theirs more simular in size to this one, part of a large clump I lifted. Took nearly an hour of trench digging around the clump, then carefully I tried to prize each bulb at a time but in the end the spade had to get involved to split in sections.

A fabulous display from my Gaura this year a fabulous perrenial. Often the foilage grows too long and by the time it flowers it collapses and looks messy unless you tie it up or use a plant support.
Ive used green string to tie around the lower third of this Gaura you would never know.

Big project clearing a bank of ivy and bramble and coming up with a layout and list of plants to fill the space and provide an attractive backdrop eventually. I had to select plants that would survive the slope conditions and some provide groundcover spread to help knit the bank. So far so good despite drought spring and the customer having to water on a daily basis.

What about those forgotten beds in your garden you struggle to get to grips with.
Revamped corner raised bed. No cement involved just rebuilt with a few extra rocks and pebbles dug over relaid leveled slabs. Now thinking over a planting scheme.
Hostas, Heucherellas, Tiarellas, hardy ferns. Pulmonaria.

So rain didnt stop play entirely today. I had a chance to check out some of my seed sowing results and ostespurnum cuttings. With a bit more growing time I should have some nice plants available in a few months. 😁👍
