Our container arrives on Monday plus we are moving out of our rental next week too, should I be stressed?

Clients ask where they can dispose of their decluttered items and my first response is try to recycle most of them.

Next time you’re out and about check out your local supermarket, most have recycling bins for clothes, plastic bags, batteries and make up.

Some home stores have bins for textiles including duvets, pillows and clothes. DIY stores even take old fluorescent tubes and small electrical items.

I’m always happy to take a couple of bags away to the charity shop with me too.

If something doesn’t fit then why do you keep it? Maybe you hope it will fit next season but having clothes in your wardrobe that don’t fit only adds to the visual clutter, making it more difficult to decide what to wear.

Ask yourself the reason why you don’t wear certain clothes. Are they uncomfortable? You should always dress for yourself and with a style that suits you. Just because an item of clothing is being sold as an essential for your summer wardrobe doesn’t mean you have to go out and buy it, ask yourself…
Is it my style?
Am I comfortable wearing it?
Life is too short to wear uncomfortable clothes.

Clients are sometimes reluctant to let unused or expensive items go.

Unworn clothes with the tags still attached, the bread maker you used once and put it back in its box.

Clients tell me they ‘paid a lot for that’ but if it’s unused then the truth is the money was wasted when you left the shop!

It can be hard to recover any costs through resale and often isn’t worth the time or effort involved.

The best thing you can do is give yourself the gift of letting go.
