It’s Volunteers Week and today we are celebrating Sue, who has been volunteering for SUGS (Service Users Support Group) as a mini-bus driver.

Sue was nominated for a Rushmoor Volunteer Award in 2024 by Fiona who said, “Sue has been driving for my group (SUGS) since September 2023. Nothing is too much trouble for her, and she goes above and beyond to make sure all my members have a wonderful time. Whenever she takes us out on our monthly trips, she is extremely reliable plus dedicated and takes her role very seriously. All of the group adore her and really appreciate all that she does for them.

Sue says “I love volunteering because I get to meet some amazing people, learn more about the community and get involved with new opportunities.”

Feeling inspired by our wonderful volunteers? Come and find out how to get involved at the Rushmoor Volunteer Fair, at the Wellington Centre Aldershot between 10am and 2pm.

Body found yesterday in Brickfields Country Park, Aldershot

Police Officers investigating the disappearance of Kiran Pun yesterday found a body in Brickfields Country Park, Aldershot.

Police believe this body to be Kiran, 36, and his family have been informed, but formal identification has not yet been completed.

"We are working hard now to understand what has happened to Kiran and to be able to provide answers to his family at what is no doubt a very difficult time for them," said DCI Adam Edwards, Head of Major Crime at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary.

"We are keeping an open mind and will be making a number of enquiries in the coming days to formally identify him, with a post mortem due to take place tomorrow.

"It is really important for us to now understand how and when Kiran came to be in Brickfields Country Park.

"If you have seen anything suspicious or that didn't look right in the area, then please can you get in touch with us.

"Any sightings of Kiran or any information, however small it may seem to you, could be vitally important to our enquiries.

"There will be Police Officers in the area conducting enquiries and going house to house, so if you do have any concerns or wish to tell us anything about this matter, then please do not hesitate to approach us.

"Please, can I urge anyone who can assist to come forward and help us provide Kiran's family the answers they are seeking."

If you have any information, in particular any footage that may assist the Police, you can submit this by going to: https://orlo.uk/fGzYZ

Or, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, or via their anonymous online form at https://orlo.uk/SbxIH

Kiran, from Amesbury, Wilts, was last seen around 7.38pm on 1 December in East Station Road, Aldershot.

He had travelled by train from Andover to Farnborough, before taking the Number 1 bus to Aldershot Station, and crossing the footbridge there to East Station Road.

As part of Police enquiries so far, five people were arrested on suspicion of murder, and they remain on bail.
