Today we’re looking at another trace element found in - Boron.

Boron plays an important role in osteogenesis, and its deficiency has been shown to adversely impact bone development and regeneration. Boron influences the production and activity of steroid hormones, actions via which this trace mineral is involved in the prevention of calcium loss and bone demineralisation.

It plays a similar role in plants in that deficiency affects vegetative and reproductive growth and development. Boron influences growth; root elongation, pollen germination, pollen tube growth and cell membrane functions.

Get it in your soil for stronger, longer, healthier plants and veg 💪🍅🥕

Unlike most chemical fertilisers, Phood is carbon neutral at its source. What’s more it is UK-produced so has no shipping miles.

What does this mean? Well, in order to produce Phood, poultry litter is burnt at a power station, generating electricity that’s fed into the national grid. What remains is a naturally nutrient-rich fertiliser; Phood.

We don’t add anything else as the chickens have gathered all the nutrients from their feed (grain etc which has in turn extracted the nutrients from the soil) and deposited it back out in their droppings - containing the micronutrients such as selenium, magnesium and iron that our bodies need to thrive. 🐓💩

Conversely, most chemical fertilisers are not renewable, costly to dig out the ground and in most cases travel many miles to reach British shores 🛳️

Choosing Phood means happy plants and happy planet! 🌎😀🪴

Zinc is another trace element that can be found in Phood. It’s a major player in the creation of DNA, growth of cells and healing tissue damage. Conversely those people with zinc deficiency are more prone to illness.

🍽️ The richest food sources of zinc include meat, fish and seafood.

🪴 Plants require zinc for key cellular functions, and you’ll recognise deficiency by the appearance of uniformly yellowish or pale leaf between the veins and possibly dead spots too.
