Behind every family business, there is a story.
Those who have visited our nursery since 21st July will have noticed that the Union Flag which usually flies over the nursery has been replaced with something different.
It is a flag bearing the emblem of the Chindits.
The Chindits (officially known as the Long Range Pe*******on Groups) were sent deep behind enemy lines in Japanese occupied Burma during World War 2. Supplied by airdrops, the Chindits were assigned with disrupting Japanese communications and endured some of the most horrendous conditions of any of the theatres of war.
CGJ Mathias, whose started our nursery was a Chindit and served during the second campaign, known as Operation Thursday. Like so many, he rarely spoke of his war experiences but was haunted by them until the day he died in 1994.
To many, they were regarded as the Forgotten Army, but not to us here.
So this flag flies from 21st July (the birthday of CGJ Mathias) until VJ Day each year not only to remember him but all of those other brave souls who did their duty.
As a family business, these acts of remembrance are important to us.
