Drawing is where every project begins, it is a tool for exploring and making ideas clear.

We use drawing to translate a client's brief into thoughtful, practical spaces. It helps us test ideas, refine layouts, and communicate designs in a way that is easier to understand.

This 3D axonometric view of the ground floor of a property that is currently being transformed on site, helps illustrate how the spaces connect, giving our clients a clear understanding of circulation and flow throughout their home.

A big moment on site in the West Sussex countryside 🌿🏡

David and Clayton recently carried out a site inspection to review exciting progress on this new build dwelling. With the scaffolding now removed, the elevations have finally been revealed, giving a true sense of the home’s proportions, materials, and architectural intent.

Seeing the design come to life like this is always a key milestone. The clean lines, carefully framed openings, and the balance of textures are now visible in full, allowing the house to be appreciated as part of its wider landscape.

Even at this stage, it’s exciting to see how the building sits within its site, anchored into the gently sloping ground and responding beautifully to its rural surroundings. We’re looking forward to the next phases as the project continues to progress.

Spring is just around the corner, and it's always an exciting time of year for Pell-Stevens Architects. 🌼

As the days get a little brighter, we're also treated with some very friendly visitors just outside our studio windows. This curious neighbour (with a few friends in background!) often stops by to say hello to the team.

It's a lovely reminder of the setting we're lucky to work in, and that spring is well and truly on its way.

There’s something special about crafting an entrance for a coastal home, it's the first moment a space greets you, and we want that moment to feel effortless, bright, and genuinely welcoming.

For us, it starts with materiality. We play with textures that feel natural to the coastline: soft timbers, gentle stone tones, light-reflective finishes. Each detail is chosen to enhance daylight and create a sense of calm the second you walk in.

Then comes orientation. By shaping the entry to catch the right light, the morning softness, afternoon warmth, or filtered glow, where we turn circulation spaces into places that breathe. It’s less about grandeur and more about harmony: guiding your eye, inviting a breeze, framing glimpses of the outdoors.

It’s the quiet craft of making an entrance feel like a genuine welcome home.

Every home holds potential — it just takes a considered approach to unlock it.

This project reimagines an existing home into a functional, contemporary space that better supports the way the family lives day to day. Through a series of careful architectural interventions, the design enhances spatial flow, comfort, and connection — all while improving the home’s thermal performance and sustainability.

The outdoor areas were thoughtfully designed to create a seamless link between inside and out, allowing the family to host with ease and enjoy flexible, year-round living.

A home renewed — smarter, more sustainable, and built for modern life.

We believe great design starts with truly understanding the people we’re designing for.

It’s not just about how a building looks — it’s about how it feels to live there. Every conversation, sketch, and decision is shaped around how our clients want to live — whether that’s bringing more light into family spaces, creating a stronger connection to the garden, or blending traditional craftsmanship with modern comfort.

This home captures exactly that balance: thoughtful design rooted in our clients’ lifestyle, where architecture and landscape work hand in hand to create a place that feels both timeless and personal. 🌿

Every successful project begins with truly understanding our clients — their lifestyle, their vision, and the way they want to live within a space.✨

This modern country Manor House, nestled in the heart of the New Forest National Park, is the result of a close collaboration built on trust, conversation, and shared imagination.

From the first sketch to the final brick, every detail reflects our client’s brief — blending classic architecture with contemporary living, and ensuring the house feels completely at home within its natural surroundings. 🌳

Architecture is not just about buildings — it’s about relationships, and creating places that feel deeply personal and timeless.

Zooming in on the details that tell a story. ✨

This close-up of existing brickwork isn’t just texture—it’s part of the narrative we explore when designing a space. Creating an architectural proposal is more than aesthetics; it’s about understanding the client’s brief, reading the character of a place, and imagining a design that feels like it belongs—to both the people who will live in it and the surrounding environment.

Every material, pattern, and connection helps us craft a design that resonates. It’s a process of listening, observing, and translating those insights into something meaningful. Because great architecture isn’t just built—it’s experienced.

Sunlight, shadow, and timber.

This family home, wrapped in horizontal timber with a timber shingle roof, is designed to feel both timeless and grounded in its surroundings. The elegant overhang isn’t just for show—it frames shifting shadows throughout the day, connecting the interior and exterior in a quiet dialogue with the sun.

At Pell-Sevens Architects, materiality isn’t an afterthought. It’s a key part of every design, chosen to reflect the purpose of the project and harmonize with its context. Every texture, every finish, every line tells a story about how the building lives in its environment—and how it will be lived in.

Architecture about creating spaces that resonate with the people who call them home.
